Pumpkins are Fall - GDP154 Challenge card

I love fall, the crisp air, falling leaves and all things feeling like a new beginning.  To me nothing screams fall more than pumpkins.  When this weeks sketch challenge was posted for the Global Design Project blog I wanted to add my own personal challenge to it and to use the sketch to create a fun fall themed card.  Here's the sketch for this weeks challenge:

Right off the bat, I knew I wanted to stick close to the sketch provided.  I loved it and its a great base to work with.  So many possibilities of what I could use, but I choose to use the new designer series paper: Frosted Floral.  Here's what I came up with:

Blackberry Bliss is such a rich vibrant colour and I love the way it combines with Old Olive.  I wanted the pumpkin to be the POP on my card so I decided it needed a layer between it and my floral background.  Here's how the card came together.

I started with a Blackberry Bliss base and added a layer of the Frosted Floral designers paper.  I next adhered a strip of Old Olive cardstock.  I embossed my cardstock with the new Swirls & Curls embossing folder and placed it about 3/4 down on my card front.  I next wrapped some linen thread over my Old Olive strip.

Next I took a scrap of Crumb Cake and embossed it with the Tin Tile embossing folder.  I took my Soft Suede ink and a sponge and sponged over the cardstock to give the embossed image more dimension.  I then tore a section of it to give it a rough edge.  I made sure that my torn section would be large enough to show around my pumpkin.  I adhered this piece to my card base using Stampin' dimentionals.  I placed it towards the right side of the card.

I next took my Stitched shapes framelits (honestly a set everyone should have - its such a great value for what you receive) and die cut the smallest oval three times using Pumpkin Pie cardstock.  I layered my ovals side by side and used Stampin' dimentionals for the middle oval to pop it up.  I cut out a stem from Early Espresso cardstock and adhered it to the top centre of my pumpkin.

I added some greenery at the top of my pumpkin by die cutting some Old Olive cardstock with a die from the Detailed Deer thinlits.  I next added some bunched up Gold metallic thread to the centre of my Crumb Cake piece and then adhered my pumpkin over top.

I stamped my sentiment from the Rooted in Nature stamp set using my Blackberry Bliss ink and cut out the strip thinly.  I flagged the ends and added it over top of my pumpkin.

Next I added some elements to the top left corner of my card.  I again bunched up a small amount of Gold Metallic thread and adhered it to my card base.  I cut out a small banner from what was left of my die cut Crumb Cake piece and adhered it over the gold thread using Stampin' Dimentionals.  I then die cut the stitched heart from the stitched label dies out of Pumpkin Pie cardstock and adhered it off kilter from the banner.

I finished the card by spritzing some Wink of Stella over my entire card.

I was so happy with my finished card.  I love the combination of colours.  It's not something I would of normally combined together but love the results.

There are some great cards this week posted and you can check them all out HERE.

Happy fall to everyone - have fun stamping and see you next time!

Thank You's are Important

I go through a lot of thank you cards.  Not just for my business but in my personal life too.  I think its so important to say thanks to someone who helped you out or did something special for you.

I am always looking for a new way to wish thanks and the Tropical Escape suite was just the thing I was looking for.  It was a perfect choice for an August Thank You card.

Here's what I came up with:

This card was really easy to create.  I started with a Crumb Cake base and added a top layer of Whisper White.  I stamped in the centre of the cardstock with the dashed lines stamp using Petal Pink.

I next pulled out a separate piece of cardstock to stamp my fern leaves.  I used combinations of Lemon Lime Twist, Tranquil Tide and Old Olive.  First I would stamp the fern up in the lighter colour ink then I would take a sponge and ink up the outside of the fern with a darker shade.  I did a similar technique with the flowers by using Flirty Flamingo and Melon Mambo.

I cut out the stitched frame in Night of Navy.  I adhered my top left fern to my card base and the bottom two ferns.  Next, I adhered my stitched frame to my card base using Stampin' Dimentionals.

I made a fern cluster in the top right corner of my stitched frame.  I next stamped my sentiment with Tranquil Tide on a strip of Whisper White, flagging the one end.  I tucked it into my fern cluster.

To finish the card I added some Wink of Stella to my flowers and adhered them with Stampin' Dimentionals.

So easy but so cute!!  I love when something comes together so quickly.

I encourage you all to sit down today and create a special card of Thanks for someone!  Your card could really brighten someones day.

Thanks for stopping by and have fun Stamping!!

A Big Thank You

I am just in love with the new bundle A Big Thank You.  I need tons of Thank You cards and this set is so versatile.  There is so much you can do with this bundle and the die set is amazing.  The finished product definitely has a huge wow factor.

Here's the card I created as my thank you cards for the month of July.  Every month I send out Thank You cards for placing an order with me so I know for sure this bundle is going to get used tons!

I am so grateful for my customers and just love being a demonstrator and being able to help them with their paper crafting needs.

Soft Sea Foam is one of my favorite new colours and combines perfectly with Mint Macaron.

I used Soft Sea Foam as my base and added the swirly image in the top right corner of my card and bottom left of my card.  Next I added some spritzing using my Bermuda Bay marker.

For my centre piece I stamped it with Gray Granite using the Handwritten background stamp and die cut one of the stitched frames in white.  I added some Silver Metallic thread and popped my frame up.  I cut my Thank You out of Mint Macaron and adhered it to the centre of my frame.

Lastly, I added a few clear rhinestones and spritzed the card using my Wink of Stella.

This is by far one of my favorite Thank You cards I have created!  Wouldn't this card by awesome in different colour combinations too?  Pinks? Purples, Reds?  - I'm so excited to try out some more options.

PSSSSSSTTTTTT - big secret this may or may not be my August monthly feature EEEKKKKKK!  Monthly features are released on the first of the month.  If you purchase my monthly bundle, I provide you with a PDF document with the instructions and photographs to complete the projects, together with the cut supplies to make them.  All you need is ink and adhesive.  It's like a class to go!  The amount of projects provided will depend on the price of the feature.
