Using those sets less used - Tabs for Everything and GDT Challenge #150

I'm so excited to get back to playing along with the Global Design Team and their challenges after a break last week.

This week the Global Design Team has a really fun Sketch Challenge.  I loved the sketch but I really was having a hard time deciding what to do.  So this time I tried something different.  Instead of looking towards my favorite sets, I decided to pull out those less used to see what I could come up with.

For starter's lets take a look at the awesome sketch for the challenge:

I loved the simplicity of the sketch and knew right away that I wanted to stamp on my panels as opposed to using some DSP.  So what did I come up with?  Drum roll......

For starter's this colour selection I choose is one of my new favs! - Melon Mambo, Coastal Cabana & Mango Melody.  I just love how they pop off each other.

I started with a simple white card base and cut my panels of cardstock.  I then took my barely used stamp set - Tabs for Everything.  I choose to use the hearts, elephants and crowns.  I adhered my cardstock panels with Stampin' Dimentionals.

Once adhered, I attached some of the Rose Metallic thread, and mounted some of the wood element pieces.  I then added my small scalloped circle (Stamped in Melon Mambo), together with my Welcome sentiment.

To complete the card, I of course spritzed it with some Wink of Stella to make it shine!!

While I did stick somewhat close to the sketch I did change the position of the main cluster and sentiment.  I also added the thread instead of the tied bow in the sketch.

See that's what is great with working on a sketch, you can edit to put your own personal spin on your final project.  Sketch's can really get you working out of your comfort zone.

I had so much fun playing along this week and can't wait to see what's in store for next week!

Thanks for stopping by and have fun stamping.

Sharing a Little Love

There is nothing I enjoy more than sending out some cards.  My team the Elite Stamping Stylists grew this month and I of course wanted to send our new members some love to show I care and that I'm so happy they joined the team.

Decided to pull out some new colours to work with and the new Little Elephant bundle.  I paired it with my favorite die set - Stitched Labels

I love the new purples that came out with the colour refresh this year!  Gorgeous Grape is so bright and fun and layering up those stitched frames creates such a fun base to place my elements.

Remember sending a fun card to someone just to show you care can really brighten up someone's day.  So send out those cards you create, get those birthday cards in the mail and have fun in the process

Thanks for stopping by and have fun stamping!

Global Design Project 148 - Case the Designer

It's time for a another challenge card!  This week over on the Global Design Project Blog they are having a challenge to case the designer.

It's such a great card and fun layout to case.  When you case a card you take what elements you like from the original and then come up with your own spin on it.  Immediately, the items that caught my attention to case were: the circle element, flowers following the circle frame, the thread used on the card and lastly the strip of paper running behind the circle element.

Here's what I came up with:

I love the wood elements and thought of using this circle frame as soon as I saw the sketch.  I wanted small flowers for the frame to case what the designer did so I pulled out my Jar of Love stamp set and they were the perfect size.

When I create clusters, I like to work with uneven numbers (seems more pleasing to the eye).  With this one here I set 3 main groupings of flowers and accented them with the Share What You Love Artisan  Pearls.  For my background, I broke out some brusho and used the blue and yellow colours.

I had so much fun (as always) creating this card.  For the first time in weeks, this card popped right into my head when I was trying to decide what to make for the challenge.  I just love when that happens!

Check out the Global Design Project and have some fun yourself.  Working on these challenges are so inspiring!

Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping!
